Nissan Datsun Go Overview
On
March 20, 2012 Nissan announced to manufacture again the famous
"Datsun" for selling in India. Datsun was Nissan's premier brand in mid
1990's. It seems like they are keeping their promise as they announced
the launch of its third brand in India by January 2014 at Indian
Auto Expo, New Delhi. It was unveiled in Gurgaon on July 15, 2013. The
new five door hatchback named Datsun GO and codenamed K2 is expected to
come at a price just under 4lakhs which Nissan believes is competitive
enough for Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Hyundai Eon. New Nissan Datsun GO
will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan's Chennai production plant. It is
believed that Nissan will discontinue the production of Micra active
after the launch of Datsun.
Nissan Datsun Go Exterior
Nissan
has given quite a frontage for its new Dutsun model which will provide a
premium feel for the car. The first thing you will notice in a Dutsun
is its hexagonal honeycomb front grille. “DATSUN” logo has been fitted
in the middle of the grille which has been garnished with crome outline.
Front windshield is protected by a single wiper coloured in black.
There are straight lines designed on the bonnet which meets the top
vertices of the radiator grills on either side. Headlights are very
aggressive with sharp edges incorporated with side turn indicators.
Moving to the bottom, Datsun is getting more sporty with its folded
bumper design incorporated with an air dam and air ducts. Coming towards
side profiles, it has unpainted door mirrors, lift type body coloured
door handles, and black rear view mirrors. New Nissan Datsun is coming
with a 13 inch steel wheels with Apollo Acelere 3G tires. At the rear
end it has body coloured bumper, and stylish tail lamp cluster.“Datsun”
logo is fitted in the middle just under the windshield, while the chrome
plated “GO” badging brings an added attraction to its rear profile.
Nissan Datsun Go Interior
New
Datsun is coming with a newly designed dashboard, equipped with gearbox
and handbrake. New gearbox position is believed to make shifting easier
and comfortable. Instead of glove box it has a deep storage area on the
left side. As gearbox is placed on the dash, the space between seats is
filled with a small cushioned seat which will be handy for kids. Seats
are wide and spacious and is covered in premium fabric upholstery, while
the door trims comes with reasonable quality plastic material.
The top end model has a dash integrated music system which also feature a
smartphone holder to connect your mobile phone to the music system. It
also covers basic features such as adjustable seats, rear seat belts,
big parcel shelf under the dash and full sized bottles in door pads for
storage space, power steering, all four power windows and a powerful air
conditioning. New Datsun is extremely spacious with large leg space,
which allows five passenger to travel comfortably.
Nissan Datsun Go Engine and Transmission
Datsun
is also using the same 1.2L petrol engine, which has been used in
Micra. Powered with 1198cc, 12valve, DOHC, three cylinder engine, it is
expected to give a maximum power of 75bhp at a maximum torque of 104 Nm.
It has 5 speed manual transmission which is tuned perfectly to achieve a
topspeed of 150-160km/hr (expected). It is also expected to cover 0-100
at 15 seconds.
Nissan Datsun Go Mileage
It
is powered by the same engine which powers the Nissan Micra. It is
de-tuned to provide a better fuel economy than Micra. The expected
mileage of Datsun GO is 18-20 kmpl on the highways and 12-15 kmpl in
city.
Nissan Datsun Go Brakes And Suspension
It is using a McPherson Strut suspension in front and Torsion Beam at
the rear. It is coming with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.
Nissan Datsun Go price and Variants
Datsun
is coming with three variants base, mid and top. Nissan has officially
announced that the new Datsun GO will be priced under 4 lakhs. The base
variant is expected to be priced around 3 lakhs, the mid-spec variant at
3.5 lakhs and top variant is expected to be available for 4 lakh
rupees.
Nissan Datsun Go Colours Available
New Datsun is expected to be available in seven shades: light blue,
light green, dark grey, black, white, silver and sunlight copper.
